Class 4 have had a really good week with some fantastic learning.
In English and reading we have continued to read ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies. We have been exploring how we can use boastful adjectives and sentence of 3 in our work. We have finished planning our own diary entries from the girl in the book and we will be writing these next week. We have been continuing to work on developing skills when answering and asking literal reading questions.
In maths, we have been looking at how we can represent numbers in different ways so 3582 could be 3000 + 500 + 80 + 2 or for example, 3000 + 500 + 70 + 12. In our daily fluency we have been looking at how we can solve subtraction calculations without using a column method. This morning we looked at how many days there are in each month, I have asked the children to practise this at home if they were unsure.
In history we continued to learn about Mayan daily life and we learnt about their famous game Pok-a-tok. We found out that this was a team game played on a court with a very hard ball. The aim of the game was to get the ball through a hoop positioned 6-10 metres high on the stone wall, only the players were not allowed to touch the ball with their hands or feet! We thought that it would be very difficult to play!
On Wednesday we went out in the school ground to collect leaves and then we tried to identify the type of tree that the leaf was from. We also started to draw our own classification keys in order to sort different leaves.
Throughout the week Class 4 have been working really hard on being the best Purple Learners that they can be.
Well done Class 4, have a lovely weekend!
