This week in English we have started to think about ‘Superbugs’. We had to design our own superbugs, write detailed captions and then plan and write about what our superbug looks like, where it lives, what it eats and how it survives. We had to make sure our writing was in the present tense and that it was in clear sections, using questions as sub-headings.
In maths we have been looking at length. We know the standard units of measure and we have been trying to estimate the length and height of different objects. (We had to make sure we were making sensible estimations) We have also been ordering lengths from shortest to longest, e.g. 300cm, 2m, ½ a metre, and using our reasoning skills to solve different problems involving height and length.
In science we have started our ‘habitats’ topic. Thank you for all the wonderful habitats that have been created over half term. It has been lovely to share such brilliant work. In our science lesson this week we went outside on a minibeast hunt and had to try and look for different minibeast habitats. We then thought about all the places that minibeasts live in and why that place is a good habitat.
In D.T we have started looking at moving pictures. This week we focussed on sliding mechanisms. We created pictures which included a moving animal in its habitat.
Please could we ask for all the children to have their recorders in school for Monday, ready to start practising some new notes in our music lessons. Thank you.
Have a great weekend,
From the Class Two Team
