In maths we have been looking at timetables. We were trying to answer questions like: If I need to get to Reading from Leeds, which train should I take? Before that we did questions in which you have three people and clues as to how much said thing they have. We had to put these questions onto a bar model, and use that to figure out how much each thing had.
In English we have been looking at the 12 Labours of Heracles. In groups of 12 and 18 we are each (or in pairs) writing a labour. In the group of 12 each person is writing their own chapter.
In grammar, we have been looking at clauses, phrases and punctuation. We looked at a paragraph from Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach then used our own way of diagramming it to pick out the punctuation. Our way of diagramming is like this. For example for the sentence we live in a yellow submarine it would be like this. Later we will look at simpler sentences and are still refining this method as it is quite long.
