In English this week we have been looking at different examples of diary entries. We found the key features and then planned our own diary entry as the main character from the book, Stone Age Boy. We have now started to write them and get feedback and are working hard to meet our next writing steps.
We have continued with our column addition in maths this week and children have started to apply what they know to solve problems such as missing number problems. We have started to look at column subtraction and will continue with this next week. Please continue to practice number bonds and times tables with your child if you can (see the next steps we handed out at parents evening for details on which your child needs to learn).
In topic we have learnt about hunter-gatherers from the Stone Age and went outside to see if we could spot any assets or threats. We also used what we know to create our own hunter-gatherer dances in PE.
In Science we have started our new topic of Plants. We identified and described functions of the roots of flowering plants.
We have sent home children’s lines and song words for the Christmas play. Please could you help them to practice these at home. We have also given out a letter which tells you what your child should wear for the performances. If you are struggling with any of the items please come and see us and we can see if we can source them for you within the school.
Please remember it is our class trip on Monday. Children will need a packed lunch and water bottle and should come dressed ready to spend lots of time outside (please bring welly boots, coats, hats, gloves etc).
