This week in English we have continued to read our abridged version of The Secret Garden. We have been using inference skills to discuss how Mary’s personality is changing. We were all very excited when Mary found the key to the locked garden! In English, we have been continuing to write our own stories about Mary’s adventures in the garden. We have been really thinking about different ways that we can start sentences and how we can use speech punctuation. We have all been really working on our handwriting to make sure that all letters are joined and a consistent height. Next week we will be looking at the similarities and differences between the opening of the book and film version of The Secret Garden.
In maths we have been learning about formal written multiplication. We started off by making the calculations using dienes to really help our understanding of what was happening with the digits. Next week we will finish this multiplication work and move onto division. In fluency, we have been working on speed of recall of times tables and addition.
In computing, we have been continuing to work on our stop-frame animations. We have taken all of the photographs that are needed and we have been working on editing the film. Hopefully these short films will be made available for parents to see.
Thank you to Mrs Maitland who came into school today to talk to us about the importance of handwashing.
