On Monday and Tuesday of this week we had visitors from China in school. They came to our school to experience life in a British school and we hope that they enjoyed it. Before Christmas, we wrote letters to these Chinese children and they shared reply letters with us, lots of us were lucky enough to be given a little traditional Chinese gift too!
In English we have been continuing to read ‘How to Live Forever’. We have been further working on answering questions about the text ensuring that our answers are directly linked to what we have read. We have also been exploring what is needed in an effective setting description. This week we have planned and started to write setting descriptions for the Chinese Garden in the book. Throughout this piece of writing we tried hard to use a range of imaginative adjectives and we have been continuing to explore the use of fronted adverbials.
In maths this week we have been solving problems involving the 6 and 9 times tables. In fluency, we have identified multiples of 50 that add up to 1000 e.g. 450 + 550 = 1000
Next week we will be moving on to multiplying 3 single digit numbers together and then we will learn about factor pairs.
In science we made slime and oobleck. We are having a great time learning about the properties and behaviours of solids, liquids and gases!
Please remember to keep reading regularly!
