This week in English we finished reading the Secret Garden. We thought carefully about the ending and the way that Colin is reunited with his father. We have written and edited our own play scripts this week. The scripts were based on part of The Secret Garden story for example when Mary and Colin first meet or when Colin first meets Dickon. We had to make sure that we included all of the features of play scripts as well as remembering punctuation and adjectives/ adverbs. I have been delighted to see several children in class 4 reading the original version of The Secret Garden. We will be starting a new book in Term 5.
In maths we have started learning about fractions. We have thought carefully about what a fraction is and what the numerator and denominator are within the fraction. We have been looking at different representations of fractions as well as shading fractions of shapes. Towards the end of the week we started learning about equivalent fractions. We know that equivalent fractions are 2 or more fractions that are the same e.g. ½ = 2/4, ½ = 4/8.
In computing this week, we have completed our stop frame animations. To begin with we needed to take all of the photographs for the animation and then we used Windows Movie Maker to join the photos together. We had to think carefully about the timings and the transitions between photos.
Please keep reading and learning times tables over the holiday.
I hope that you all have a wonderful Easter, enjoy the break!
