Throughout the week, we have been focusing on phrases and clauses and how to improve our sentences. We have also begun looking at examples of persuasive texts and finding the key features of a persuasive text. Our reading sessions have been starting to pick apart the skills involved in comprehension. Starting with basic inference skills, we’ve noticed the difference between literal questions and inference questions.
Our arithmetic skills are improving across all areas of maths and we are starting to get much faster and more accurate. We have learned how to find fractions of amounts using the bar model to help us visualise what’s happening.
Our science lessons have taken an engineering route with our egg drop and supporting bricks challenge. The children teamed up with years 4 and 6 and came up with creative and interesting ways to solve a problem
Children will be taking part in bike safety next term and a letter will be coming out in the first week of next term to let you know which dates your children will be taking part. If your child does not have a bike, please let me know ASAP. If you have any questions about it please do not hesitate to ask.
