Week 6 (13/12/19)

Thank you to everyone who came to watch our Christmas performance and for ensuring that the children all attended both evenings. We hope you enjoyed it and thank you once again for providing costumes.

This week in English and reading we have continued to read ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We have been discussing what has been happening in the story and we have been answering literal questions by making direct reference to the text. We have also been very busy with a piece of story writing. We have been writing, editing and improving our own adventure stories based on ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. Throughout this writing we have tried to include a range of adjectives and adverbs including fronted adverbials and we have continued to use the pattern of 3 for action/ description.

In Maths this week we have continued to work on written column subtraction that uses exchange. We have been linking this understanding to the work that we did previously with place value counters. Later in the week we looked at solving missing number problems and we looked at how to identify mistakes in maths work.

A reminder that there will be no set homework over Christmas but children are encouraged to continue to read and rehearse their times tables whenever possible.
