Week 6 (14/2/20)

We are very excited about our trip on our first day back. Please remember to hand in your slip and money before the end of the week if possible.

We finished the first part of our topic this week on ‘Contrasting Localities’. We learnt about life for children in Mondana in Ecuador and compared it to our own lives here. We thought about the similarities and differences between them and then had a discussion about where we would prefer to live and why.

In maths we are continuing with are multiplication (2 digit by 1 digit e.g. 4 x 18). We have been using counters and dienes to make our sums first and have started to look at how this would look in a grid method.

We finished our stories about Leon going into the magic box in the circus and then looked at persuasive writing and had a go at our own posters trying to persuade people to come to our circus.

In Science we explored the life cycle of plants by looking at the parts of a lily.  We dissected lily flowers to help us in our research.

Next term we will be going outside in PE for tag rugby so please provide trousers and hoodies for your child if they feel the cold.

Well done to the children so far on their homework. We have been really pleased to have everyone’s handed in on time and to see that children are completing their times tables and are reading their rainforest texts. We have been looking at these in class and answering comprehension questions based on them.

We hope you have a wonderful half term
