Week 6 (14/2/20)

This week in class R we have been answering our learning questions “How do trucks work?” and “How do cars work?”. We talked about gears and cogs and how they work. The children explored the gears in the classroom, they created tall towers and managed to move all the cogs by just turning one.

On Tuesday 11th February,  it was ‘Safer Internet Day’ as a class we looked at the story ‘Smartie the Penguin’. You could support your child at home to stay safe on the internet by discussing the story again or sharing some of available activities, they can be found here: https://www.childnet.com/resources/smartie-the-penguin. We will continue to recap this in class throughout the year.

In phonics, the children have been learning the graphemes “ar like in farm, or like in corn, ur like in fur and, ow like in cow” the children have also learnt the tricky word ‘you’. This week the children have a game in their book bag.  ‘Tricky word Bingo/lotto’ the instructions of how to play the game are written in the attached letter. The children have also brought home the next digraphs to learn. Please play these games with your child, games are suggested on the sheet.

The children have worked really hard this term and have answered many of the questions they had at the beginning of the term. After half term the children will have a Dinosaur theme so we can begin to answer the questions they had all about dinosaurs!

Have a great holiday and have fun.
