In English this week we have been learning how to sentence diagram questions that contain a subject and a verb phrase. We have also been rehearsing how to identify subjects, verbs, nouns and adjectives within sentences. Later in the week we learnt about the 5 part story structure and we used this to plan our own stories linked to The Promise. During our reading sessions, we finished reading The Promise. We talked about how the city and people have changed and we discussed whether or not the book ended in the way that we expected.
In maths we have been learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. We have explored the rounding rules and we know how to identify whether a number needs to be rounded up or down. During our fluency sessions we have been recapping some of the place value concepts that were taught earlier in the term.
In history this week we have been designing our own Mayan headdresses. This continues from one of the activities that we did at Pitt Rivers Museum. We found out about the sort of decoration that might have been used on a headdress and we also learnt about how headdresses were only worn by important people. We will be finishing this work next week.
During our computing lesson, we continued to work on programming an animated version of The Promise story using Scratch. We have been learning how to program two sprites with the correct use of timings.
Thank you to everyone who has booked a parent appointment for next week. If you haven’t made an appointment, please contact me or the school office as soon as possible.
