Why wear a uniform? Wearing a uniform creates a sense of belonging to the CGPS community. It teaches children to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance.

Parent’s role: Dressing each morning is part of preparation for the day ahead. It is important parents encourage & support this so that children are in the right mind set for learning & success.

Please make sure all items of uniform are clearly named.

Required 

• Grey trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress
• Green and white checked dress  -summer only
• White shirt or polo shirt 
• Green sweatshirt, cardigan or jumper  – with or without the school logo
• Grey or white socks, white, grey or green tights 

Hair

• Hair styles should be appropriate for school
• Shoulder length hair must be tied back Hair accessories with flowers, large bows etc are not part of school uniform

Jewellery: for safety reasons jewellery must not be worn. However, if your child has pierced ears, small plain stud earrings may be worn. 

PE KIT

On PE days we ask that children wear their PE kits . To find out what day PE is is for your child this term please go to our Class Pages

Required  – 

• Plain, dark coloured shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms
• T-shirt in house colour (email the office to find out your child colour)– with or without the school logo, or plain white T-shirt 
• Plimsolls/ Trainers

Optional – 

• School PE hoodie

There is no obligation to purchase school logo uniform. Many high street shops & supermarkets sell suitable clothing. However, should you wish to purchase school merchandise please visit Make It Mine 

Lost Uniform

We have a lost property area. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to check for an item of lost property. Named items that end up in lost property can easily be returned.

What if I cannot afford the uniform, or I wish to consider sustainability?

Our 'nearly new' uniform shop is managed by a school parent, Please speak to the office if you would like to either donate or access uniform. 

Variations on the policy

The school will consider carefully reasonable requests to vary the policy, to meet the needs of any individual pupil to accommodate their religion or belief, ethnicity, disability or other special considerations. Parents must put requests in writing to the Headteacher.

The Governors & school have used the Department of Education Guidance to set this policy

Year 3 - 6 children are encouraged to bring equipment

• Colouring pencils/pens

Mobile Phones Year 5 - 6 

The curriculum in Year 5 & 6, does not require students to have a mobile phone in school. 

If you choose to allow your year 5 or 6 child to bring a phone  to school, they must hand it in on arrival and will not have access to it during the day.

Mobile phones kept in secure location (front office), which the pupil does not access throughout the school day – they should be put straight into  the box in the school office.

It is worth noting that the curriculum in 7, 8 and 9 at Wallingford School (where many of our children move on to) does not require students to have a mobile phone in school.
