Uniform & Equipment
Uniform
Why wear a uniform? Wearing a uniform creates a sense of belonging to the CGPS community. It teaches children to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance.
Parent’s role: Dressing each morning is part of preparation for the day ahead. It is important parents encourage & support this so that children are in the right mind set for learning & success.
Please make sure all items of uniform are clearly named.
Required Uniform
- Grey trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress (summer green and white checked dress)
- White shirt or polo shirt (Green available for pre-school)
- Green sweatshirt, cardigan or jumper – with or without the school logo
- Grey or white socks, white, grey or green tights
- Black plain flat shoes or trainers.
Hair
- Hairstyles should be appropriate for school
- Shoulder-length hair must be tied back.
- Hair accessories with flowers, large bows etc are not part of school uniform.
Jewellery: for safety reasons, jewellery must not be worn. However, if your child has pierced ears, small plain stud earrings may be worn.
PE KIT
On PE days, we ask that children wear their PE kits . To find out what day PE is for your child this term, please go to our Class Pages
Required PE Kit
- Plain, dark-coloured shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms
- Trainers
- From 4th April 2025 we are introducing a new PE t-shirt which will be available in bottle-green for all children (we are phasing out house colours). We feel this t-shirt is a much better option for PE as it is a lightweight neoteric fabric with a relaxed fit and features 30+ UPF protection. This t-shirt, with a school logo on it, will cost £6.75. Children can continue wearing their current PE shirt until they need a new one.
Optional
- school PE hoodie
- black and green PE jumper with half-zip
- green fleece
- green cap
- a waterproof jacket
Buying Uniform
From April 2025, with the hope of keeping the cost of uniform down, we have asked Make it Mine to offer all our uniform options with or without a school logo so that you have the option when ordering. They will also offer the following.
- black jogging bottoms (for PE)
- black shorts (for PE)
- green pre school t-shirt
There is no obligation to purchase school logo uniform. Many high street shops & supermarkets sell suitable clothing. You also have the option of supporting sustainability & buying a nearly new uniform.

We have a lost property area. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to check for an item of lost property. Named items that end up in lost property can easily be returned.
Variations on the policy
The school will carefully consider reasonable requests to vary the policy, to meet the needs of any individual pupil to accommodate their religion or belief, ethnicity, disability or other special considerations. Parents must put requests in writing to the Headteacher.
The Governors & school have used the Department of Education Guidance to set this policy.
