Pastoral Support

Pastoral Support

We want everyone in our school to feel good about themselves and cope with feelings about their self and others. We aim to support our children to express their emotions justly so that they can deal with the changes and challenges of everyday life.

Jackie is in school working with some of our children 2 days a week. She is in high demand, so we have to prioritise the children she is able to see.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of extra support for your child, you are welcome to contact:

School Counsellor

A School Counsellor is a qualified professional who provides a safe space for pupils to discuss any experiences or difficulties in their life that are impacting their emotional and psychological wellbeing.  Children and young people will be supported to understand underlying causes and find more positive ways of channelling their emotions.  Counselling is offered as a one to one and is confidential, however, they will work along with parents and the child’s teacher to provide the best support for the child; this can include helping to identify additional needs or barriers to learning.

Our school Counsellor will use child friendly therapy techniques including activities and games as well as talking and listening.  Every child is an individual and because they all grow and develop at different rates, will be supported to develop their own unique personality.   They can talk about how they’re feeling so they can better understand their struggles and explore ways of managing them that they are comfortable with.
